More About the Author

After many years as a university careers adviser, CV designer and adult education tutor, Jackie settled to writing as a career as well as running a craft club and autobiography writing courses. So far she has published about 30 books and numerous magazine articles. These have ranged from computing to careers, narrowboating, writing and cookery.

A new book coming out in May 2014 is aimed at helping graduates find their first jobs and will be published by Constable & Robinson.

Her most recent book is: "Writing Non-Fiction that Sells" which was first available as a Kindle ebook but is now published in print form by Emerald Publishing. It is based on her years of writing experience and offers practical exercises, examples and advice on everything from finding a first idea to approaching editors and websites.

She has a reasonable sized garden and so "Making the most of your Glorious Glut" was a natural result of growing too much to eat straight away. It includes all her favourite recipes and she enjoyed every minute writing and testing the recipes, which also improved her cookery skills.

"A Guide to Writing Your Autobiography" is based on the 5-week courses that she has been running, where she helps aspiring writers achieve the ultimate goal of finishing their work and producing something of long-lasting value to them and their families.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good itroduction 20 July 2009
Bought this for my elderly dad and he has found it quite useful - of course no book is likely to cover everything in exactly the right way but this seems to have been useful. Key thibng with these books seems to me to be up to date as digital tech canges so quickly. So far OK with this book. Paperback a sensible size to handle though covers could be more susbstantial.

Probably excellent for someone more persistent than me - I still can't work my camera, but that is not a judgment on this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ready to purchase a first digital camera 14 Mar 2010

I ordered this book because I know nothing about digital cameras. I hoped to learn what some important words and phrases meant and really learn the very basics of how they work and what type would be best for my needs. I found the beginning chapters excellent. Since I have no intention (now) to download pictures on a computer I have not read the entire book since most of it deals with this. But if you want to know all this info, it's a great, simple-to-understand book.
