5.0 out of 5 stars This should be required reading... 28 April 2009
Format:Paperback
This should be required reading for all Anglican ordinands, clergy, churchwardens, PCC members and, indeed, anyone else with an interest in how the church functions.
David Parrott's easy, eminently-readable style belies the fact that this is a detailed and accurate guide through the quicksands of the law as it applies to churches. Want to know about how to appoint a vicar? It's all here. Need a Faculty? He tells you all about it in understandable terms. Worried whether you're complying with the law on protecting children, or health & safety, or the Charities Act or a host of other legislation? Worry no longer; this book has it all covered.
I shall be recommending this book to all my clergy and wardens. It could halve the number of phone calls I receive, and do the same to the levels of anxiety in those with responsibilities in our parishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars "does what it says on the packet" 31 Dec 2008
Format:Paperback
David Parrott's book is a must for any priest, church warden or member of PCC. As he entitles it, it is a simple guide, but not simplistic! He clearly takes a difficult and complex subject and makes it relevant and with the use of humour navigates the reader past the countless pitfalls in church law and brings them to a safe understanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly practical and readable guide to the subject 12 April 2009
Format:Paperback
David Parrott has written an excellent practical guide to the subject of how the law - both ecclesiastical and civil - applies to the Church of England. It is thoroughly readable and well organised. Having already had several occasions to refer to it since I bought it, I can vouch for the ease of finding information, and the genuine usefulness of Mr. Parrott's answers. Often his answer is all that's needed, but he also provides thorough references to further sources of information should these be needed. This book will definitely be the first place I look in future on church law questions, and I recommend it highly for anyone connected with the functioning of the church.
