5.0 out of 5 stars Best Chinese Horoscope book! 12 May 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I buy this book almost every year, and I have yet not found a better book out there. So if you are into horoscopes and what the year ahead might hold for you and your friends, then I do suggest this one. It is easy to read and understand and decipher.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing 3 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is the most basic chinese horoscope book i have ever purchased. I was hoping for a more in depth forecast for the year ahead but it did not really tell me anything. It actually took me about 15 minutes to read the sections relevant to my sign and as there was little detail in these i was very disappointed. I will not be referencing this book in te future and will not be purchasing a follow up book by this author.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay, not his best work, and not worth the price; here's why.... 21 Nov 2011

I've been reading the paper book of Chinese Horoscope the previous years, and have enjoyed the content, and this eBook is no different. The problem I have with this version is (1) that it's not worth $9.99 and (2) some of his predictions are already a given.. here's why..

The book begins with a brief background of the different 12 animal as well as a breakdown of the different animal (for example, there's detail characteristics as well as the different breakdown of the Chinese New Year period since 1912 of the five different element for animal, totaling 60 different profile). This takes up approximately 60% to 75% with the remaining content devoted to the 2012 forecast. This 60% to 75% content never changes from year to year, and every year, the author has this same material in the same format since he began writing these books. So in theory, you're paying $9.99 for a book that has 25% to 35% of new content!

Overall I don't think this was his best book either. He made some predictions that I believe we all know already. For example, in his section "Welcome to the year of the Dragon" Neil has the following predictions which I felt were "already the known" such as large building infrastructure project (with the earthquakes in various countries, Tsunami in Japan and flooding in Thailand this is a given), medical breakthrough (that happens pretty much every year) and a focus on green technology; he also mentions the continue use of the Internet will have a great impact to the entertainment industries.

I've been reading his books for many years now. In the past, I'd be willing to pay $9.99 for the physical book, but in it's eBook format, I would have felt better if he charged $5.00 for the book since he's really writing only about 35% of new material, and the other 65% are material he's just copying from his previous books.

Not sure how much stock I put into all of this. The explanations of each animal compared to the person can be right to some degree. I wonder how much we think we need to act like the animal this says we are instead of just being yourself

I am so greatful and excited each year for this book to come out. This one I only got at the end of the year and can only serve retrospectively. But at least my series is complete.
I have followed it for a number of year's, study my family's and my horoscope and get the general vibe for the year. It gives me an expectation or consolidates feelings and motivations I might have already formulated to myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you wanna know about the Chinese Zodiac 25 Feb 2012
By Kim Forbes - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Great book! All you need to know in one book: brief and interesting etiological origin of the Chinese zodiac! You can look up your sign and element; it outlines of the elements associated with every sign (there are five!). The characteristics of each sign is provided AND a forecast is provided as to what the year will bring for each sign and element! I really enjoyed it and look forward to buying 2013's!!!!
