4.0 out of 5 stars Practical, step-by-step guide for starting your own social enterprise, 9 Jul 2008
By Rachel DuBois "Web Designer" (Orkney Islands, Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
There are a lot of books out there covering social entrepreneurship and social enterprise -- the difference with this one is it's a step by step guide to how to start your own. From writing your business plan to assembling your team, from planning for growth to taking a hard look at your own skills and knowing when it's time to sign off, Your Chance to Change the World helps you go from vision to reality. I've been referring to it regularly as I go about drafting our mission, our 'elevator pitch' and moving our fledgling social enterprise forward.

My only wish is that it had been longer, with more detail. But of course many an entrepreneur, social or otherwise, is too impatient to sit down to read it for long so the short, snappy chapters will do the trick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely accessible introduction, 28 Jul 2009
By Andrew Brady (Essex) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Craig is one of the top social enterprise leaders in the East of England region, and this book is a warts and all description of his own story, complemented by the views of other entrepreneurs. It's of interest to educators (like me) and their students, but is also a very practical guide to those wishing to set up a business primarily for social impact rather than financial gain.
