I have read them all but I must say that Your Body Knows Best makes the most common sense out of all the diet books out there. Gittleman, et.al use ancestry, metabolism and blood type as modifying factors in individualizing diets. When I finally realized I was a fast oxidizer and couldn't burn up all those fat free carbos, the pounds just started coming off real quickly. Bravo. I am sending this book out as my Christmas present this year to all my friends I really care about.

Your Body Knows Best is the absolute best book out there on nutrition. It makes so much more sense than the Zone and Eat Right For Your Type. Gittleman puts together every possibile aspect of individualizing diet and truthfully as an A blood type and fast burner...Hers was the Only Program that worked for me. I have lost 30 pounds and 18 inches since following her Diet Plan in the book..and this only took me 2 and one half months. I think this book should be on the best seller lists. Its an underground favorite, that's for sure. Many thanks

My wife has bought every single diet book on the market and this is the one that worked for her. She was so excited after the first day when she read it, that I started reading it too. She started taking the recommended supplements and followed the menu plans for her fast oxidizer type. She lost 8 pounds the first week and is now down 25 pounds..with another ten to go. Great Book. Great Results. Every Body should read Your Body Knows Best.

This book is great...It made so much sense to me after I figured out that I was doing everything wrong - especially drinking all that fruit juice. As a fast burner, juice is a no- no. Well, I am more energetic and look terrific. I hope Ann Louise does a sequel.

After years of being a vegetarian, then a low-fat carbo addict, I now, at age 45, have more energy, my allergies are dormant, and my female hormones are doing much better. I feel balanced! This book and also her book for women 35 and older, "Before the Change: Taking Charge of Your Perimenopause",have changed my life entirely. Highly recommended. Her writing style is not as "marketable" as some best-sellers, but just ignore that and take the information that fits for you. I did have to experiment quite a bit to find the right combinations of suggestions for me-but worth it.

As a personal trainer, I recommend this book to my clients. It provides a well-rounded approach to eating, something that most "diet" books lack. In other words, instead of coming up with some "hook" and basing a diet on that one factor, Gittleman draws on several important factors and emphasizes the need to shape your eating habits around your individual traits.
An added plus: it does NOT promote the low-fat diet that has led to obesity in so many Americans.

If you plan to read this book, start on page 120 with the metabolic profile test. If you fit profile 1 or 2 you need to use caution because some of the menu items for these groups are on the AVOID-FOR-ALL-TYPES list earlier in the book. If you fall into Profile 3, forget it since the detailed food plans and final compilations are applicable only to 1 and 2. I felt like I had watched a decent movie with a quick, unpolished ending.

This book helped me a great deal in explaining how my body functions. For two and half years, I was a vegetarian and for some reason I continually gained weight. I did not understand how my low-fat to no-fat diet could cause me to gain weight and why my digestive system never seemed healthy. I knew something was intrinsically wrong, I just didn't know what. Fortunately, I happened upon Ann Louise's book where she explains that as a Northern European descendent, I simply need animal protein. I am now committed to a diet that is free of wheat and refined sugar products and full of animal protein. My weight gain and digestive problems have subsided. This book helps you understand that there is a definite language of the body, we just have to know how to listen. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with understanding their body, not necessarily out to lose weight, but to come back in balance to what your body's needs are. There are basic and simple, we just need to learn the language.
I also recommend Ann Louises' other book "Super Nutrition for Women."
