This program does work! 11 Feb 2011
By Erika Lyne Hampton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
I bought the whole program for my daughter when she was about 8 months old. At first I thought that it wasn't working so I kinda gave up on it for a while. I decided to give it another shot. I let her watch the dvd twice a day for about two months then moved on to the next dvd. This program won't teach your baby to read in a couple of months, it takes a while. My daughter is now 28 months old and she knows every word on all 5 of the Your Baby Can Read dvds. There are also Your Child Can Read dvds and she knows most of those words too. How many 2 year olds do you know that can read the word famished? My daughter can thanks to these dvds. Another great dvd program is "Meet the sight words." When watching the Your Baby Can Read dvds its best to not let your baby watch very much tv or he or she may find the Your Baby Can Read dvds boring. You also have to keep in mind how long you babys attention span is. Some toddlers may not want to still long enough to watch it or if they have already become used to watching colorful and exciting cartoons then they may not be interested in this program. Overall I believe this program is great! It took my daughter over a year to actually start reading any words. If you stick with it then it works great!

Hmmm.... my baby can't read! 22 Jan 2008
By D. McIver - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
My wife and I are pretty sharp folks -- and the kiddo we bought this DVD for is now 3 years old. I'm sure every parent thinks their child is very smart, but believe me when I say our's is scary smart.

That being said, he didn't respond well to the video and certainly didn't show any signs of word recognition. We also weren't going to freak out if he didn't -- but thought it would be cool to see.

Baby sign language - yes (didn't slow down his verbal skills at all!)
Baby Einstein videos - yes -- he still likes to watch them

Baby can read! - not so much

I'd recommend getting a copy from a friend or the library before buying this one.... maybe it's right for you, maybe not.
