For those of you with young babies (2-12 month+) I would highly recommend the 'Your Baby Can Read' series which we found to be by far the best for keeping our granddaughter interested and excited. I would suggest you start playing them quite soon - around 2-3 months so they get use to the sounds. My granddaughter used to get really excited when the intro music started to play! They may have some annoying American pronunciation (i.e. eating, zebra ) and words (i.e. diaper) which I tend to speak loudly over, but overall my granddaughter learnt a great deal from the series, i.e. body parts, expressions, animals, songs, actions, colours, shapes etc. I've given it top marks even with the america/uk crossover problems, because compared to other baby dvds, it really deserves 5 stars. If you can't get it on amazon, you can get it from other internet sources.
I have to say I have been particularly disappointed by baby/toddler/infant DVDs, which I have purchased by the bucket load since becoming a grandparent and am surprised by how little good material there is out there.
One last thing they are in NTSC US format (not UK PAL) - so you will need a multi-regional DVD player.
