Product Description

Jack Fletcher has been left for dead.

Bruised and battered, Jack Fletcher wakes up in a roadside inn wrapped only in a dirty kimono. He has lost everything, including his memory of what happened.

Determined to discover the truth, Jack goes on a quest to retrieve his belongings - his precious swords, his friend Akiko's black pearl and most important of all, his father's prize possession. Relying on his samurai and ninja training, Jack realises The Ring of Water is the key to his survival.

But with only a washed up Ronin - a masterless samurai - for help, what will Jack manage to find? What will he lose? And what will he have to sacrifice?

Chris Bradford has trained in karate, kickboxing and samurai swordsmanship. He earned his black belt in Zen Kyo Shin Taijutsu, the secret fighting art of the ninja. Before writing the Young Samurai series, he was a professional musician and songwriter and has performed for HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

Action Packed 2 April 2011
Format:Paperback
I was intrigued by the change of events in this book. Jack loses his memory and all his possessions and one wonders how this can possibly have happened. As the story unfurls the puzzle is solved piece by piece. Jack struggles to get his life back together with the help of his new friends, Hana and Ronin. (I love the new character Hana and how she is given her name.) Along the way Jack learns yet more new skills and life values and some old enemies resurface. True to form, the book is action packed and keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Chris Bradford has an excellent writing style which brings the history and culture of Japan to life. I can't wait to read Chris's next book, The Ring of Fire.

I recently bought this title for my ten year-old son who has read all the previous books in the series. He could not put it down and had read it within a few days! He is a big fan and I have already reserved a copy of the next instalment for him due out later on this year.

The latest (5th) entry in the Young Samurai series follows Jack battling to regain his wordly goods and memory after being attacked and beaten.
New characters are introduced some you will love and others not so much. The most interesting character is the Riddling Monk. Chris' descriptions are so vivid you don't have to close your eyes to see them, they jump right out at you.
My only complaint is that I have to wait until August for the next one ( The Ring of Fire ).
The cover of this book is the coolest so far with the exception maybe of the American cover for Dragon. Just my opinion.
The author is a true raconteur and a gentlemen.
