Product Description

Vladimir and Ingrid Dracula have been forced to relocate to Britain after their father took a bite of one local too manyback in their native Transylvania. For Vlad it s a dream come true, another step towards the world of normal that he so desperately covets. However, with a vampy sister, a servant who smells of mouse droppings and a talking wolf not to mention a blood sucking father, keeping his family s secret under wraps is going to be a full time job.

Luckily for Vlad he finds a friend and ally in Robin Branagh. Robin doesn t live in a castle, but he wishes he did. He doesn t have to wear a cloak, but he does anyway. And he doesn t have to drink blood, but...okay he hasn t gone that far yet. He is cursed with two robustly normal twin brothers, a smart talking, know-it-allsister, and parents so wholesome he could...well, bite them.

For Robin, meeting a real life family of vampires is his dream come true and he and Vlad forge an unlikely friendship. They don t always get on but do have something in common, they re both rebels stuck with families that don t understand them.

Throw in to the mix a mother who only appears when she wants something and a slightly crazy woodwork teacher called Van Helsing who is determined to fulfil his destiny as a Slayer.

Yes this is a children's series but who says you have to be a child to enjoy watching it. Dracula - Mr Count and his children Ingrid and Vlad have been forced to leave Transylvania after "one too many" peasants got bitten. Vlad just wants to be normal and Ingrid just wants her father to notice her. Buy this and you will love it too, Renfield is a creation of genius. when will series 2 be available?

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay!. 27 Oct 2012
Format:DVD
Like the other reviewer i am so happy that this has finally been released on DVD as i thought it would never happen!.
I'm 35 and not affraid to say that this show, although aimed at children, is just brilliant!. I stumbled across it one day in 2006 and have loved it ever since, though as much as i hate to sound like a fangirl, i did only stick with it at first because of Keith-Lee Castle, but very quickly grew to love the show for all the actors that star in it, and ofcourse the fact the it's well written, funny and as the other reviewer mentioned, has just enough darkness at times for "older" children (and us aldults who love it too, shhhhhh!).
Buy it. I promise you will not be disappointed.

'Young Dracula' is one of our families favourite kids cBBC-TV shows (and similar in humour, I guess, to ITV's 'My parents are aliens'). The first two seasons from 2006 and 2007 were a big hit when my son and daughter were 10 and 12. When it returned in 2011 for seasons 3 and 4, they happily started watching it again, now aged 16 and 18. Even I take time to sit and watch it with them; it's funny, it's dark, it's sensitive, and it's quite charming. All the characters are perfectly cast.

The series follows the vampire Dracula family: Vladimir (Young Dracula: Vlad), his father Count Dracula, his older sister Ingrid, his stuffed talking wolf Zoltan, and their loyal servant Renfield. Having lived in Transylvania, they are forced to move to Stokely, a small town in Wales, after various incidents involving torches and angry peasant mobs. Sadly Vlad's mum isn't about anymore, as she has left the Count for a werewolf called Patrick. This first series of Young Dracula sees 13 year old Vlad befriend a 'breather' Robin Branagh who he meets at school - a human boy far more interested in becoming a vampire than Vlad himself. Both of them are loners and a bit estranged from their respective families - their dad's care about them but they just don't understand them. The Count in particular, being 600 years old, is a very old fashioned parent. And although the Count likes to think of himself as truly evil, in fact he is happy to break vampire rules if it suits him or keeps his family safe. So amongst the humour, there are also lots of issues here of interest to teenagers: parental separation, moving home, not fitting in, relationships, failing to live up to dad's expectations, being the undead, etc..

5.0 out of 5 stars Too good for kids! 19 Dec 2012
Format:DVD
I might be a grown up (on the outside) but I find Young Dracula so good to watch. The characters are great but I think Count Dracula himself is amazing. His Prince of Darkness runs from being quite scary to really funny.
Keep em coming cos I'm not going to grow up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great entertainment
Reminds me of Adams Family where bad is good and good is bad, but weird is fantastic :-) The father (Count Dracula) reminds me of Ozzy Osbourne, with I think is too cool :-)
