Bill Broonzy was a powerful performer of the Delta Blues, and he later found a second career as a folk and blues singer for the liberal folk crowd in Chicago. I remember seeing him at a party when I was a teenager, and I've loved his music ever since. This CD and a second of his material from the twenties and thirties are important documents of Broonzy's work before he became a northern urban performer. Yazoo is a label specializing in rare folk, ethic and blues recordings from the period before the Second World War. Their remastering and notes are always more than excellent.
