I purchased this book, unfortunately not from Amazon otherwise I'd have saved myself some money, I'm not the most patience of people, but nonetheless, I purchased this book a couple of months ago (Jan 2001) and it has been invaluable. I had already set up my aquarium and had experienced some problems, both with my water quality and unexplained fish deaths. This book helped me understand the environment in which my fish were placed, as well as understanding how to best treat my fish when ill, eventually resulting in a healthy aquarium. The step-by-step guide on setting up the aquarium was very interesting, but too late for me as I'd already set my aquarium up. But this section will be very useful when I'm ready to move on to bigger and better in the future. I've learnt my lesson the hard way - patience pays. The plant section was also very useful, so useful I changed from plastic plants to fresh. What a difference. Thank you. I'm well and truely hooked on fishkeeping. It gives me immense pleasure now the stress of watching my fish die is a thing of the past. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in setting up a healthy aquarium.

Probably not 'in-depth' enough to satisfy the experienced fishkeeper but otherwise this book cannot be faulted. I refer to this regularly as my 'fish bible', using its information I have set up a fantastic healthy tropical tank.
Highly recomended!

I was looking for a comprehensive book to help me look after my goldfish, this publication is a wealth of easy to read guidance and ideas. I feel that with the help of this book I can go on to much greater fish keeping than just my coldwater, freshwater goldfish. Perhaps I will have a go at the marine coldwater? who knows, but I at least have the book to help me.
