So for the Whammies still out there, here's what YOU need to know.
A comprehensive discography you will of course be very familiar with, remastered, sparkling and bright for the MP3 generation listening, BUT - and it's a great big one, if you ARE a WHAM fan seek out "THE FINAL" which is the more correct collection of their repertoire as you knew them in the 1980's.
Two key reasons One - FINAL includes numbers associated with WHAM that were George Michael solo relases, where BEST OF lists only stuff badged as the duo, therefore sidestepping the stratospheric hit CARELESS WHISPER and the thoughtful DIFFERENT CORNER. Second Michael, as always tormented by the guilt of having made a hill of beans from selling bubblegum to 10 year olds, re-visits and frequently re-mixes the parts that didn't touch the soul the first time.
Ultimately BEST OF is the more mature, THE FINAL is the more authentic. You choose....
