I found this little gem while looking for a new copy of an African Head Charge LP. What a great surprise. To be honest I feel a bit of a fool. This is the sixth record from Little Axe, how did I miss the first five, starting with Wolf That House Built. What's past is past, my embarrassment wanes, soothed by the music. I know about Little Axe now and there is no going back.
I envision this album to be the music bubbling under Skip's fevered brow. Songs manifesting as hummed bits in the shower, driving to the store, demanding to be brought to the light of day. Fragments of a lifetime playing music threating to boil over in Skip 'Little Axe' McDonald's blood. What an amazing tour-du-force showcasing a great guitarist working his mojo, while Mr. Sherwood, Style Scott and friends form the channeled spirits of music old and new into a bit less amorphous form. I am glad to vote with my wallet that these artists continue in their work, join me.
