I've been following Silverfall for a little while now, and this is a gem of a single. Jenny Bailey's voice is like warm honey and the lyrics are really moving. Predicting big things from these guys...

3.0 out of 5 stars ...soft and gentle, warm and caressing..., 6 April 2008

Hello, this is rather good. Three piece Yorkshire band Silverfall are they, fronted by lead singer Jenny Bailey, who claim to come from a town called Mexborough, which is a made up name if I ever heard one. And it's the land of make believe that Silverfall inhabit, albeit not the Bucks Fizz one.

No, their land is one of fluffy kittens and life long romance, whose parallel existence only sometimes crosses over into the dark and uninviting one the rest of us are compelled to live in, serving penance for the sins of previous lives. Which is all rather nice. Not something I find myself saying very often, but there you go.

They claim to be influenced by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Carole King, and the Eurythmics, and 2 out of 4 isn't bad when it comes to influences. I'll pretend they never mentioned Chris Martin, as that has been known to cause fits of random violence round my way.

It's all very soft and gentle, warm and caressing. A bit like a Lenor advert with a better tune, all topped off with the luverly voice of Ms Bailey, which does that clever thing of being rough and smooth all at the same time. You know, a Toblerone type thing. Mmmm, Toblerone.

The lead track dips in and out of slightly dark electronica and Bacharach styled arrangements, with the B side, 'Waiting' going for the full on summery effect, all shiny and glossy, a fuzzy big labrador to frolic with. It's really, really nice.
