Almost A Return To Form 6 Jan 2010
By Kenneth M. Ortman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
After a long hiatus, 999 recorded this CD in 1993 with the original line-up almost intact. Gone is Jon Watson, replaced by Arturo Bassick of The Lurkers. The music is heavier than where they left off in the mid-80's. Some of it even reaches the frenetic energy of the early LPs. The two-guitar interplay is not as interesting as it was in the early days when they used the Clash-esque clean Fender sound paired with the dirty Gibson. That's a shame, as I thought it was pretty effective. The songwriting is generally good. Some of the lyrics are a bit naff, and spoil the enjoyment of a few otherwise catchy tunes, but there are enough good songs to pull the weight of the weaker ones. I'd say it's their best effort since The Biggest Prize In Sport.

It's been a short 5 years... 5 May 2001

Made in UK in 1993, Serial# CDGRAM-71, Playing Time 39:49

After 3 consecutive live albums, 999 released "YUI" back in 1993, their first studio since "Lust Power And Money".

Frankly, you can't tell it's been that long. The band follow their recipe of 2-and-a-half-minute songs, but this time, it feels like the inspiration, at least lyrically, is gone. Simple melodies, lame lyrics, you can't help but think you've already heard all this but it used to be stronger, bolder, when attitude counted for something.

You might even think this is a "cover band" of 999, but there's no mistaking the Cash/Days' sounds.

Generally disappointing, there are still a few precious tracks, but not quite enough to make it a "must have".

Punk and New Wavers 13 Oct 2004
By Jose Ruben Orantes Garcia - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This group is another example of in-famous punk rockers. Why? MTV Mafia? HV1? The Records Companys? Anyway. This group is perfect for a punk party and for punk lovers & New Wavers and... to make love. But this CD is Out of Print
