Dr Ian Pearson has been a full time futurologist for 22 years. He has worked in numerous branches of engineering, and uses his engineering and business expertise to work out the likely social, political, business and environmental impacts of future technology. His inventions include text messaging and the active contact lens. He was BT's full-time futurologist from 1991 to 2007 and now works for Futurizon, a small futures institute. He writes, lectures and consults globally on all aspects of the technology-driven future. He has written several non fiction books and one sci-fi book, and made over 500 TV and radio appearances. He is a Chartered Fellow of the British Computer Society, the World Academy of Art and Science, the Royal Society of Arts, and the World Innovation Foundation. He holds a Doctor of Science degree from the University of Westminster and an Award for Excellence from the US Army.
