Product Description

Synopsis

This easy-to-read book is for dyslexic children of all ages. It explains, simply and sympathetically, what is happening to them, and how they can be helped to overcome their problems. It also hopes to show children that they are not alone in their difficulties, and that there are others with the same problems. The aim of this colourful book is to put dyslexia into perspective, particularly for a child, but for parents also.

5.0 out of 5 stars For parents of a real dyslexic child, 28 Jan 2008

I was given this book by the psychologist who diagnosed my daughter. Like all parents whos children really have dyslexia we had noticed all the physcial and emotional differences in our child in toddlerdom but it took us three years after school to get our daughter help. this book came as a hugh relief and is written in a really simple and lovely way which our daughter - having dyslexia - couldnt read to herself but we read it too her a couple of times and each senario is so simple it opened the flood gates for us to help her with her memory and organisation problems and to talk openly and positively about our day to day difficulties. There is a beautiful poem at the end with a really positive message putting dyslexia in perspective. This is a lovely book for parents and younger ie 7 to 10 year old to sit down and start to deal with the things which make their days a bit more difficult. The poem does reduce me to tears as it will any mother who has been through this experience. I have given a copy to our school so that a bit more understanding will help other children in the same position

This was a nice book with clear, easy to read, text. It was short and simple but to the point. Any child would find this easy to read him/herself and it tackles a serious problem in a way which won't worry a child or make them feel bad about themselves. If you are a parent and want to explain what dyslexia is, then this is the book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars book review, 2 May 2009
This review is from: So You Think You've Got Problems?: So, You Think You've Got Problems (Paperback)
My son was 7.5 years old when he was identified as being dyslexic. This book is an excellent resource to use to explain dyslexia to a young child in a positive format. After reading the book to our child I asked him if it was ok to give it to the school so the teacher could read it to the other children in his class so they too could understand more about dyslexia, the teacher reported that circle time discussion with the children was very positive. We donated the book to the school library so it could be used as a resource within the school.
