Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Few could have predicted just how successful the transformation of TV soap-character Tiffany into Martine would be. Turning her back on the cosy safety of Eastenders and Albert Square, You, Me And Us is Martine's first outing as a solo songstress; and with four songs co-penned by McCutcheon herself, it's almost good enough to dispel the usual soapstar-turned-popstar clichés. Produced by Tony Moran--the svengali behind McCutcheon's favourite singer Luther Vandross--from the opening "Perfect Moment", this is a record that pulls few punches musically: but then, Martine's unique, breathy voice was always her principle selling-point. There's a touch of Sinatra-inspired theatricality here ("I've Got You"), a dash of Streisand-style balladeering there (the maudlin "Rainy Days"), as well as the obligatory cover: a version of "Maybe This Time", Sally Bowle's signature tune from Cabaret. The Eastenders servitude has obviously paid off: in terms of pure, old-fashioned showmanship, Martine's delivery is faultless. --Amber Cowan

The album of the year! 14 July 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
With most people agreeing that the pop industry is at an all time low at present, I found martine McCutcheon's album, You, Me and Us, to be a welcome breath of fresh air in a smog of manufactured girl and boy bands. Martine rebels against the soap stars in rock cliche and in turn has presented her audience with an extremely credible album. You see, Martine really can sing. Trained at the Italia Conti stage school, Martine oozes confidence from the opening bars of smash hit Perfect Moment, to the closing lines of the standard of the classic, Maybe This Time, Along the way, martine treats us to bursts of dance inspired songs (Secret Garden) and heart felt ballads (Talking In Your Sleep). The smash hits are all here, from I've Got You to the Bee Gees penned, Love Me. If you have any doubts about this then please leave them at the door ! This truly is one of the albums of 1999, and if Martine continues at such a rate, then she will be one of Britain's most talented (and beautiful) stars. ROLL THE DICE!

A great voice
A great shame she gave up on her musical career as she has a tremendous voice.
Her rendition of Maybe This Time shows this off to perfection.
