It was just too perfect....Its a rainy autumn day in Paris, and I'm killing time in a record store, and a version of the Buffy Sainte Marie song "Until its time for you to go" that I love so much comes on over the shops PA, but sung in a wonderfully French accented voice. "WHAT IS THIS WORK OF STAGGERING GENIUS!!!!????" I mime to the sales assistant. In a sulky Parisian way, he gestures to this CD. I fling Euros at him like confetti.
I now know more Francoise Hardy records, and they are all great, but this is still my favourite. Not that its sung in English, but maybe its becouse it has that same laid back melancholy that Nico has, and also the wistfulness of the Marianne Faithful records of the same era. Its relaxing and its beautiful. Listen to this while sat on a velvet floor cushion, looking at rain run down the window pane.
