Do You Hear the People Sing is the triumphant song of revolution and standing for a belief in a better world that inspires hope in the characters and also brings on what is, certainly in the stage production, the center-piece of the story. And in the film - we get one of the best versions. Similarly to "At the End of the Day" where the scale and number of extras conveys the tone and suffering better, Do You Hear the People's scale and prowess in the film makes it all the more powerful. Also the fact that it slowly builds up with the military drumming ushering in an agressive tone upgrades it above the other versions where it felt more akin to ABC: Red and Black but with more an anthem feel than a rising anger interrupted by Marius' longing. Overall a fantastic track that for some reason, God knows why, didn't make it onto the highlights.
