3.0 out of 5 stars Exciting but choppy in places! 9 April 2012

This is the second Ron Sewell book I have read and at first I was a bit puzzled. The excitement and relentless pace are all here but characters and plot lines seemed a bit all over the place to me. Then I checked and realised that this book was written some two years before the other book that I read. I have to say that Mr Sewell has really improved his plot construction and story lining since this book. My biggest criticism is in the characters and the changeability of their motives/actions and even mentality plus a deev vein of stupidity sometimes foxed me.

Having said that Mr Sewells readability factor is extremely high and I found myself pretty absorbed through most of this book. Some of his action scenes are so realistic you end up feeling a bit soggy! What I think Mr Sewell does supremely well is to create atmospheric and exciting adventures!

Anybody who enjoyed this should certainly read The Collectors which is, to my mind, far more cohesive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thrills 11 Aug 2011
By Marj
Format:Kindle Edition
Davy Jones needed a new life, and found one. But all lives have their difficulties, and it was not smooth sailing. This book has two great strengths, the carefully thought out complexity of the plot, and the absolute excitement of the action scenes.

By ¾ of the way through, it reminded me of a game of Chess, with powerful pieces scattered around the board, waiting to bring down the poor king - or Davy in this case. And then the thrills really started.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relentlessly fast-pace; a damned good read. 12 Oct 2011
By Soooz Burke - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
From the very first sentence Author Ron A Sewell sets a cracking pace. Meet David Jenkins a man desperate enough to rob a bank, and unfortunate enough to have the whole thing turn bad when the boat being used for the escape of he and his two companions is wrecked shortly after they attempt their getaway.

David Jenkins has the money, and the brains to use it well. He becomes Davey Jones and to all intents and purposes his past vanishes and a future on the run begins.

From the streets to running a high class brothel, Davey lives his life full throttle. The women he meets see to it that he is never lonesome for company.

The author weaves a well thought out story, utilizing the theme of greed apposing loyalty; lust being used as a weapon, and love finding its way into Davey Jones's life when he least wants or expects it.

A clever and determined freelance journalists begins tying up loose ends and all roads lead her in the direction of David Jenkins aka Davey Jones.

Fate has its own way of dealing with his life. He is coerced into working for the British Government in a scheme designed to bring down the drug trafficking trade in Britain and Spain.

The action doesn't let up in this story, it whirls you into the dark underworld of drugs and drug barons. You witness the methods of trafficking, fascinating and frightening.

I will not spoil this for you, to say more would do just that. Be prepared for one hell of a rescue at sea, and more twists in a cleverly thought out plot.

A damned fine read.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting and absorbing read. 22 July 2011
By Marj - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
'You Can't Hide Forever' starts by plunging the reader straight into the action. Davy Jones finds himself on the run after a robbery, unsure whether his mates, Chris and Jack, have even survived. Davy has cash, but he needs a new life, and he finds one. All lives have their difficulties, and it is not smooth sailing.

This book has a carefully thought-out plot, and with characters that draw in the reader. It is a quick and exciting read, with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. Highly recommended.
