I do recommend this CD - doesn't have any really big hits on it, which is no bad thing - we know those too well. Gems on this CD are Nita Rossi's first minor hit "Untrue, Unfaithful" plus a record that anyone in their late 40s will probably remember - one of the last releases Alma Cogan made before her untimely death - the tribute to The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'s David McCallum entitled "Luv ya, Illya"

How unfortunate this older compilation seems to turn up "resold and (essentially) unloved" when there really are some decent collectable tracks on it! Many of the girls are British somewhat unknowns with a few exceptions, but the tunes are good on this lots of times - even the "covers". Soulful and sometimes sad songs - "Lonely without you", Thank goodness for the rain", "Thinking of you", "Don't you know" together with "sixties sound-flavored" pop cuts - "Pay you back with interest", "It's so fine", "Well how does it feel?"(compared to the other "How does it feel?" by Sonny & Cher), "Untrue unfaithful" and of course Jan Panter's cowbell beat nursery rhyme takeoff ditty "Scratch my back"! Always peppy Breakaways give us "He doesn't love me"; also peppy is Tammy St. John's "He's the one for me" and Sharon Tandy's "I've found love" as well as the album title track by Mally Page. Pikettywitch does soft sound with "There he goes" with an arrangement I like to call the sixties "Caravello Candy Bar Commercial" sound - "...creamy nougat whipped up & up..."! Lastly a real clunker, but in an amusing way is Martha Smith's typewriter-paced version of "As I watch him walk away"...I've at least heard Jean DuShon's version to compare the way this soulful melody "should" seriously sound, but hearing Martha just about stand on a chair to hit the notes of "...I can't bear the though of her kissing you..." you have to give her kudos for trying so hard! I doubt this CD is even in print by now. Collect it if you can find a copy!
