good book, but dates are wrong 1 Jan. 2012
By Scott D. Haile - Published on
Format: Spiral-bound
This is a good calendar, and of course the puzzles are excellent, at least having done the first four. The spiral binding means you can lay the book open on a table or easily hold it in your lap. The puzzles are reprints in order from February 2008 to February 2009.

One problem: the dates listed below each puzzle appear to all be off by a single week: So puzzle number 1 (correctly titled "Reverse English") is listed as coming from 2/17/08, but it actually is from 2/10/08. If you're using the solutions in the back of the book (listed six-per-page), this isn't a problem. On the other hand, if (like me) you are in the habit of looking up the solution on the internet (where various puzzler bloggers provide commentary along with a solution for each puzzle), and if you happen to search by date as listed in this book (e.g., googling "nytimes crossword 3/16/08"), you will end up looking at the solution to the puzzle immediately *after* the one you're trying to check -- which is extremely annoying if you're planning to do that puzzle next, and prefer not to know any of the answers.

That's my lone complaint. Otherwise, it's a good price for a year's collection of delightful puzzles. Highly recommended.

Makes great gift 29 Nov. 2011

I have purchased this crossword calendar as a gift for several years now. The puzzles are more difficult and great for a true enthusiast. The only complaint is that the print is small for someone of an increasing age.
NYT Sunday Crosswords 2012 14 April 2012

This calendar suits me pretty well.

It has a moderate amount of space for me to note the things I want in the day spaces.

I prefer this spiral bound type for any engagement calendar, but especially for one filled with crossword puzzles. This one is a great deal considering the cost of puzzles these days.

I do wish the print could have been a bit larger, but it's still a pleasure to have another reasonably challenging weekly crossword to do.

Was received in excellent condition. As always, these crossword puzzles are a challenge and do not disappoint.
