5.0 out of 5 stars Great challenges 4 Feb 2014

In many bookstores, crosswords in large print are too easy. Just because one is losing one's vision doesn't mean one is no longer intelligent enough to try a challenge. This book of puzzles is great because it is divided into "easy", "medium" and "hard" sections. The easy ones are more of a challenge than most large print puzzles in the book store yet they are fun and quick to do. the medium ones range from not so hard to "oops, did they put this one in the wrong section?" The hard ones are real posers and fun to work on - even if some are realyl tough. A thoroughly enjoyable book to have. Will send for more when I finish these [and I will!]

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good Will Shortz crossword book 10 Mar 2014

I really like the large-print in this crossword book. It's so much easier than having to cope with some of Will's other crossword books where even with reading glasses it's a strain on the eyes. Also, the book is easy to handle with the pages opening so that the book is almost flat. Therefore, there's not the common problem of struggling to keep the book open at the page one is working on. As in all these books, the puzzles are of variable quality with some being very entertaining and others being dull and somewhat silly. This, of course, reflects the multiple authorships. The puzzles are classified into easy, medium and difficult. Therefore, you can choose your puzzle depending on your mood and the amount of time you have available to solve it. This crossword book does not suffer from the common problem of recycled puzzles from older books as far as I can tell. I'd recommend this book to all crossword puzzle lovers but particular to those getting on in age!

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit too clever! 17 Feb 2014

This was a good book, but some of the clues (even on the Easy ones) really were pretty far-fetched. Also, there were no explanations on some of the puzzles with shaded and/or circled squares, so it made it difficult, if not impossible, to quite know what I was doing. I think a little helpful word would be in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Large print, tricky clues 21 Jun 2014

So many large print puzzle books are geared to beginners. Even the Easy puzzles in the front of this book have sneaky, punny clues. I'm now working on the Medium, and have sneaked a glance at the Hard category. They are really challenging! The book is well worth the money.

My 92 year old Father was thrilled with this book. He loves doing crossword puzzles and now he can read the clues!
