Jim was a founder member of the legendary Foundry Bar Band, after an apprenticeship in various Scottish groups including The Taysiders. His interest in the travelling folk is well known and he had a very special relationship with the late Belle and Alex Stewart of Blairgowrie.
Some of Scotland's finest musicians session with Jim on this album - Aaron Jones (cittern), Sandy Brechin (accordion), Marc Duff (whistle, recorder), Malcolm Stitt (bouzouki), Frank McLaughlin (guitar) and Ian Anderson (vocals).

Jim Reid - Yont The Tay,
By
This review is from: Yont the Tay (Audio CD)
Lovely album from the late Jim Reid - Great versions of "Mormond Braes", "(The Battle of)Harlaw" "Baron O'Brackley" "Sleepytoun" "My Bonnie Moorhen" & many others. This was Jim's final recording & a wonderful one at that. Love it! I bought it after getting hold of a copy of "I Saw The Wild Geese Flee" Jim's first solo album - made way back in 1984 - It's an album that really grows on you - & this new album is no different. Jim has a great voice. He was originally the leader of The Foundry Bar Band - think I'll be buying some Foundry Bar Band albums soon! If you like Scottish folk music - or just folk music in general - then I would recommend checking this album out - I suspect that you won't be disappointed.
