I've watched a lot of anime and read a lot of manga and there have been plenty or yokai references that have just gone completely over my head. After reading this so many of the things I've seen made a lot more sense. Learning a little about Japanese culture and about mythical creature that are not from a western perspective was also fun and very interesting. For a small book it contains a surprising amount of information and I just loved the presentation in the book and the illustrations are just wonderful. I really enjoyed reading it.

As an avid fan of manga and anime, I was interested in learning more about the monsters and mythology of Japan, and this book was brilliant! I brought this book at the same time as I brought 'Night parade of 100 demons' and it was interesting to cross reference the pair, as both had really good info on the subject, though this one stood out the most because of its layout and the amazing quality of the illustrations in it, as well as including traditional images alongside the ones done by the illustrator.
Overall, a great read and thoroughly recommended!
