Format: Paperback
This is a comprehensive, well produced and personal book on yoga for travellers. Attractively designed in a handy-sized format for travelling, the author, Jennifer Ellinghaus, includes many personal stories and tips on how to deal with the inevitable ups and downs of life on the road, such as connecting with others when travelling alone. The suggested sequences themselves are creative, covering every conceivable space and situation possible on the road, such as dealing with short, narrow spaces in hotel or hostel rooms (which I tried out myself on a work trip and found useful).  As a teacher, I found the sequences helpful and inspiring in themselves, regardless of whether travelling or not. The author also deals with a number of scenarios such as sequences for post- party or when just off the plane. In addition to asanas (postures), Jennifer includes short, helpful pranayama (breathing) and meditation tips. She also draws on the wisdom of yoga philosophy to help guide the traveller in yoga off the mat. There are several useful resources at the back of the book including an index of postures and techniques and tips on what to take. This is a well thought through book written by someone who clearly cares for her subject and passing on the tips learned from experience. I would recommend it to all who like yoga and travelling and indeed to those who are interested in yoga on and off the mat.

"Yoga for Travellers" is a delight on so many levels and I congratulate everybody involved in its production. Jennifer's tips for the yoga devotee, for the traveller, for every day, are warm, funny and wise and John Lander's illustrations are a treat. The book has been thoughtfully constructed ... a handy size to carry in a daypack or handbag, convenient bookmarks provided by the flaps inside both front and back covers, the pleasant "feel" of the recycled paper. "Yoga for Travellers" is a gem. It has exceeded my expectations!

This is a gem of a book; of course it's ideal if you love yoga and travelling, it's up there with your lonely planet. But it's also ideal if you are curious about yoga and open to catching Jenny's passion for the benefits of a regular practice (which is a passion worth catching). I also think what you get from Jenny's writing and wisdom is how to live life in a way which makes you happy, and how a yoga practice can help make that happen. That's a pretty big deal! I am sure anyone who reads this will be inspired in unexpected ways.

I loved this book! I have only participated in yoga occasionally over the years but decided that in 2015 I needed to focus more on my health and work-life balance. It can be challenging for me to make the time to attend scheduled classes and so I have taken to incorporating yoga, pilates and meditation practice into my day wherever I can, at home and while on weekends away. 'Yoga for Travellers' has really helped me with this - it is a very approachable read for a novice like myself (although I can see that more accomplished yogis would also get a lot out of it). I probably do not represent the typical audience that this book was designed for, as unfortunately I am yet to travel to any exotic destinations since reading it! However, I have found that it has helped me recognize opportunities for 'me time' within my everyday routine. Practicing quietly in my sunny backyard is just as rewarding as attending a formal class and the greater accessibility means I participate more often than if I had to adjust my schedule to fit other people. I usually do travel overseas once a year and am looking forward to following some of the suggestions outlined in this book when I do.

A fantastic read! Well written, funny, uplifting, with many great ideas, and the spirit of yoga shining through from beginning to end.

I initially bought the book because I was thinking about spending the next winter somewhere in Latin America and wanted to continue practicing. The laid-back attitude towards practicing yoga in general as well as the many tipps from personal experience are incredibly motivating. The book has given me a real boost to go through with this plan and I now believe that I can pull it off - traveling and keeping up a yoga practice.

I am also a big fan of the sequences, which are tailored to a host of situations and moods and are not only of great value to any traveller, but also perfect for everyday use at home.

The book offers a variety of interesting facts about yoga in general and detailed descriptions to individual postures. It gives valuable insight into yoga practice - for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. It is not only an essential travel item for any fan of yoga, but is also a great resource for home practice.

I loved this very unique book for many reasons. Although I regularly practice yoga, I struggle with motivation at times, and Yoga for Travellers has been great for keeping my practice on track by adapting to my needs as a backpacker in a fun and creative way. I've even used it for short non-backpacker trips. I also enjoyed reading the personal reflections. I appreciated how the author put in accounts of her own personal experiences and ways she has learnt to manage challenging situations and emotions without feeling as though you are being lectured. I think there is something in here that everyone can relate to and Jennifer Ellinghaus has the ability to put comments and opinions about life out there in a sensitive, insightful yet pragmatic manner. Although this book is as the name suggests, is about yoga for travellers, I’ve found it helpful in my everyday yoga practice and life.
