There are so many yoga books on the market now it is difficult to choose which ones are worth buying or offer something new or useable. This is one of those rare books that actually inspire us to practice. It offers the main featured poses and then simple routines which are an easy way to fit practice in to daily life, rather than being a book that ends up being just a pleasure to look at the yogis doing the poses! Jessie and her fellow yogis are photographed in black and white (which adds to the calming and relaxed feel of the book) in the beautiful morning light on the beaches of Byron bay. They demonstrate the poses without lapsing into showing off and doing extreme versions which is a pleasant surprise these days and make you believe you too can do them. The sequences cover a good range of conditions and offer something for everyone, from back problems and stress to grief and other emotions and routines to complement different kinds of sports.

The text is deceptively simple, making it a worthwhile offering of yogic philosophy while making it easy to understand and written in a way that makes it relevant to our everyday life. This is a wonderful addition to Jessie's other books (highly recommended) and occupy a unique niche in this well populated area. Also highly recommended are Louisa Sear's yoga videos (Jessie Chapman trained with Louisa) an outstanding teacher of international standing, although not so well known in the UK.

Yoga for all occassions 12 April 2007
By Thayer
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've always found that exercise books can be a bit hit a miss, but this one was great.

It puts positions into small workouts for any occassion, sport related, emotional, focus on an area of the body.

The pictures where also helpful and the book is easy to follow.

Simple, understandable sequences for all levels of experience. A great book for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and students as well.

A very misleading title 13 July 2011
By Ms Muffintop - Published on Amazon.com

This book claims to have "sequences". It more accurately recommends poses not sequences and I didn't agree with all of the alignment points either. A better book for this sort of thing is Insight Yoga by Sarah Powers. Her "sequences" are longer, more like 15 minutes each - and she explains in greater detail

borrowed it from the library, finally had to buy it 30 Nov 2008
By I. Henry - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is an amazing book! I borrowed it from the library on a whim, kept it until I maxed out my ability to renew it and then racked up surcharges for being late. I just didn't want to part with this book. Finally had to buy it! I've only practiced for 3-4 years, I'm NOT a teacher. This book is easy to understand & the pictures and instructions of poses are concise and to the point. It is so amazing to learn the intention of each pose, apply it what ever physical or emotional condition and feel in that moment the results. Can't say enough about how helpful this book has been to me as part of my yoga practice and in my life in general.
