I purchased this book ... because of the variations of poses it offered, I've been practising Yoga off and on for about two years and thought that I could do with some new poses to study and different exercises to follow, for this reason I found the book an excellent resource. However most of the poses do seem to be to some extent geared towards to more agile, and some poses I would not like to try with teacher guidance, such as the headstand (although the book does state that it is only an introduction). The exercise programme layout is suberb, with very clear and informative guidelines, such as variation in poses and even a common faults section. The book is very informative on all levels such as diet, relaxation (I think I'll pass on the purification rituals!) This is an excellent book if you are in need of the whole lifestyle approach to yoga, but if not, you might find principles addressed by the sivananda yoga vedenta centre as slighty off putting in your own approach to yoga
