Beautifully laid out book with first class explanations of all the asanas. From how to get into them, holding and coming out of them,all with clear step by step photographs. I bought this back last year as I had just joined an Iyengar Yoga class and this book works in perfect harmony with what I achieve in class.

It does include indepth essays and lessons, some of which I understood, some will take a little bit more reading to get to grips with, but very interesting nonetheless.

Books will never replace real teaching as far as yoga is concerned but this book comes pretty close to that.

I really appreciate the clear layout, good photos and explanations to be found in this book, but it has been quite frustrating to see so many repeated postures in each chapter, albeit with some refinements for particular problems. On the whole is is a good addition to my collection but I would have welcomed a greater variety of postures to be illustrated.
