My God and his word makes so much more sense to me now. Maria was indeed very good at interpreting Gods word in a simple but powerful way. It needs to be read, it begs to be read by those Christians and indeed non Christians who want to understand the Bible and what Gods presence in their lives can and must mean. Happy reading. Open your eyes and hearts. A transformed Christian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging 23 Sept. 2005
By Loving Life - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is entitled "Let Me Tell You About my Savior; Yesterday, Today and Forever; When the King was Carpenter." That implies that through this book Maria von Trapp wants to tell about her Jesus that she serves.

I found the preface of this book to be encouraging and inspirational because she tells of the hard times she went through in her life and how her faith in the Lord kept her strong through it all.

Much of this book is just like reading out of the Bible with Maria's thoughts woven into it. She uses bits of her life experiences to explain the Christmas story and life of Christ.

There are also a few pictures of the real von Trapp family throughout the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to Live, Love and Die! 9 Jan. 2010
By Beatrix Potter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a book for 'Yesterday, Today and Forever because it puts into perspective the 'why' we are here and the 'how' of going about our lives. It helps us to understand the importance of dealing with the obstacles in our lives, and the joy of knowing that we are not alone, when life gets tough. Yes, I am a Christian, and a Catholic like Maria, and she made our redemption through the life of Christ, easier to understand, and embrace. She uses the Bible and many religious works, including the works of Josephus, for a proper understanding of Jewish thought and history, up to and around the time of Christ. These ideas are interwoven through the wonderful story of Maria and her family. I love this book, and recommend it to everyone. It's NOT preachy, and opens up a whole new perspective on the struggles of a family, and how they persevered. Hoorah!!!We need their spirit today. It's delightfully different from any book I have read before, and it's just my opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Picks up where "The Sound of Music" leaves off... 5 Sept. 2009
By Stacey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I was thoroughly delighted and surprised by Maria von Trapp's "Yesterday, Today and Forever". This autobiographical work picks up where the film "The Sound of Music" left off: with the Trapp family fleeing Nazi-occupied Austria at the onset of the Second World War in pursuit of a new life of freedom for their family.

"Yesterday, Today and Forever" tells that story. Maria shares personal stories and anecdotes of her family's singing ministry as well as the ups and downs of everyday life. This book touched my heart and satisfied my curiosity about what happened after the Trapp family climbed into the mountains of safety and liberation from the Nazis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! 5 April 2011
By Ashley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I recently read Yesterday, Today, and Forever by Maria Von Trapp. I honestly did not know what to expect when I got this book in the mail, but to say I loved it is an understatement. It is the BEST book I have read in a really long time. Maria is truly an inspiration on how to mother a family. The open way she looks into finding answers as a family regarding the Jesus' life is truly incredible. The way her whole family has researched and studied the life of Christ to the point where knowledge of Him and his life is like knowledge of each other as siblings is truly inspirational. I have walked with Christ for over 15 years and have never once considered most of the questions her children asked. I grew so much by just reading their discoveries, and pray that, as my two year old and infant grow, we too can collectively research and study God's word as the Von Trapp family has. I am so grateful for the opportunity to read this beautiful book.

I received this book for free from New Leaf Press for this honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars History Worth Reading 10 Jan. 2013
By Bonnie43 - Published on Amazon.com

If the Sound of Music was a favorite movie of yours, you will enjoy this book, as it is the story of the journey after the movie was over. What happened to the Von Trapp family after the movie ended? The details are here. I enjoyed the fortitude and tenacity of this story! Marvelously written by Maria Von Trapp. And who would know this story tester than the Mother herself. I gained many aspects of her life here in the US, after they moved here. One was that the Prince died within a few years, and she raised the dynasty to what it is today, almost singlehandedly? This is noteworthy, and another movie needs to be written about this!
