Shedding the restrictions of popular song structure, the stream-of-consciousness musical hurricane of the 5th and final Crass studio album is only matched by the uncompromising, incantatory polemic around which it rages.
For me 'Yes Sir, I Will' is the pinnacle of their work, however if you're just starting out with Crass you should have a go at the albums in order i.e. Feeding of the 5000; Stations of the Crass; Penis Envy; Christ - The Album; Yes Sir, I Will
At least listen to the the first three before this one anyway - experiencing the progression is important in how the the political intent behind the structure of 'Yes Sir...' is perceived. It's simple and not exactly a new idea to subvert form in this manner but the impact is better if you allow yourself to be comfortable with the artist's recognised form first - before it gets turned inside out!
The best £6 you'll ever spend if you are a furious romantic who can see the promise of the world suffocating beneath the oily sheen of imperialism and consumerism.... there is an irony here somewhere...
