Amazon.co.uk Review
MP3 players have followed the pattern of most new technologies. When they were first developed they were both expensive and immature, but recently this has changed. There's no better example than the
Yelo DMP32 MP3 player. Whilst not the most advanced player on the market, it does offer exceptional value.
The unit is extremely small and lightweight. It would be overstating the case to call it a stylish design, but it is functional, practical and in no way unattractive. The device comes with 32MB of memory, enough for around half an hour at CD quality (128kbps), or double that if you encode music at FM quality (64kbps). The player can be fitted with up to a maximum of 128MB of memory thanks to MMC (MultiMedia Card) expansion capabilities. One of the drawbacks of the Yelo player is that it connects to your PC via the parallel port, rather than via USB. This makes the transfer of music onto the player a more laborious process, but does have the advantage of being useable on Windows 95 systems which do not support the USB interface. The sound quality from the DMP32 is excellent with an acceptable, if not overly impressive set of headphones provided.
If you're keen to see what all the fuss is about with MP3, but don't want to pay several hundred pounds on a cutting edge device, the Yelo DMP 32 could be exactly what you're looking for. --J Weston
