This book helped to make our holiday to Wyoming one of the best holidays we've ever had.
Of course it has all the usual information you'd expect about the national parks themselves, but what I also loved were the sections on the various gateway towns, like Cody. We wouldn't have visited cody had it not been for the excellent and detailed section on this town in the book, and Cody turned out to be one of the highlights of the book! You have to go to the Rodeo if you get chance!
Also loved the descriptions on how to reach the national parks, such as via the stunning beartooth highway - the book points out loads of facts about these routes.
but the best bit of this book was the hikes section. Hiking away from the main roads is the ONLY way to appreciate these amazing national parks. the hike descriptions are very accurate, and always follow marked trails for your saftey. The best one? the very short 1.5 mile round trip to Trout Lake in Yellowstone - we went in May, when the lake was teaming with cutthroat trout (well, the name kind of gives that away), but there to feed on all the trout, were a large family of otters, including 3 babies! They were right next to us on the shore of the lake.
