Product Description

From the Publisher

The first book of a seven book series - Alternative Poetry Books - Yellow edition contains 62 poems. Funny/quirky light-hearted poems begin on odd numbered pages alternating with serious poems which begin on even numbered pages.

More humorous pieces Include such characters as a belligerent poet determined to fight off any 'flowery' readings of their work; a schoolboy with Asperger's who has his own reasons for never biting his teacher again and a family of gnomes who will accept any indignity rather than make a pot of tea out of turn.

The serious poems include some alternative views of personal loss, politics and some of the bleaker aspects of modern life.

Life is made up of dark and light moments and this book is intended to reflect life and the humour life is always capable of serving up, even when at its darkest.

These poems are written for adult readers and may not be suitable for readers under 14 years old.

Sincere apologies to my teacher

I'm sorry I bit Mrs ThreadGold,

it's not a thing I'd do twice.

Quite apart from the fact that I won't get the chance;

she didn't taste very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars laugh, cry, love it 1 Mar 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I have been a fan of Banana's poetry for more than 2 years now, and her Alternative Poetry Books are just an absolute joy. Her poetry will make you by turn think about life and escape from it, laugh out loud, cry, and just fall in love with the joy of words. A delight

5.0 out of 5 stars It's poetry, but not as we know it. 28 Feb 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Michele Brenton is a poet for a new generation. Forget Wordsworth's nodding daffodils; this is poetry about life as we know it, but seen through the eyes of a rare talent. Michele has a different slant on life to most people. Poignant, wry, incisive, oh yes, all of these, but there's humour too, by the sackful. The ideal book for dipping into, refreshing your spirits when you're down perhaps? Or for just the sheer pleasure of reading a couplet that will make you think, a couplet that will make you laugh out loud, they're all here. If you always thought you didn't like poetry, don't give up, just read this collection. You may find you've changed your opinion. Fabulous!

5.0 out of 5 stars Alternating Pages 27 April 2010
Format:Paperback
This is a superb collection of poems and there's something to suit all tastes from the poignant to the laugh out loud funny.

My personal favourite is Tea Pot O'Trouble.

The book forms part of a series, so get in at the beginning and follow the entertainment.
