unfortunately in the end I really genuinely believed 3 was a fairer grade. My reasons? Well, I normally start off with ALL items be they DVDs, Books or CDs with 5 stars and deduct accordingly - if necessary of course - until I'm happy with the result as in this case. What 'helped' make my decision much easier in this case were 2 errors I think made by the Editor Richard Wiles and then compounded by the Publishers, Ammonite Press! The first can be found between pages 276-278 where the years jump from 2000 - 2004 with no race coverage in between and that creates the second where it appears the Editor has realised he is running out of space and pages and has rushed through the last decade in as few pages as possible spoiling the whole feel of the book.
This is a great pity because there are undoubtedly some very good phographs of some great horses, jockeys, trainers and characters therein. This would NOT necessarily deter me from purchasing some of the other books Ammonite have on offer from the series.
