Rather like Box of Delights this book is not just a trip down Memory Lane for older viewers but a source of information about some of the programmes which are getting aired again on digital TV and also released on DVD. As this is a TV Times publication it should come as no surprise that the book covers the forty years from 1955 when commercial TV started in the UK.

This book is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to every event or programme on TV and so each year is treated to three or four pages of brief outlines and notes about the programmes that became noteworthy and also some of the efforts that fell by the wayside. Each year is also given its own Top Twenty programmes list and viewer numbers. This book is an entertaining trip into the past.
