I brought this book two months ago after being complete overwhelmed by the state of my house and failing ..once again to get to grip with it all. This book provides a simple, logical approach based in two simple principles..
focus on one area per month, get sorted what you can get sorted and know where you want to go.. and plan to do it
focus on developing positive habits.. which are so simple!but really effective

When reading this book, you know Regina is writing from experience ..and therefore is able to offer practical advice that suits your lifestyle and priorities.. rather tan the expectations of someone living an imaginary perfect live. So far I've done my kitchen and bedroom.. still got work to do.. but now I love entering these rooms. It is such a great stress release... and I can find my undies in the morning when getting dressed for work!

In the past I've gone at the task of 'organising' like a bull in a china shop, now I'm taking my time knowing that just 30min to a hour each day is going to make a real difference. On the positive side Regina encourage 'treats'... I've got loads planned and really looking forward to having friends and family round and not worrying about them opening the wrong cupboard etc.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone that needs a steer and support it getting organised and wants to stop digging their way through clutter (including mental) and start enjoying thier possessions and life

Of limited use to the chronically disorganised: I was hoping for a step-by-step guide to sorting out my life, or maybe just my home, but this doesn't quite go far enough to help. Arranged in month-based chapters, this book examines a different area of your home each time, but gives only superficial advice on any given subject. I like the 'preview-inview-review' format (it 'tells you what it's going to tell you, tells you it and then tells you what it has told you', a proven format for good retention) but it hasn't told me enough to be able to go away and put it in to practice without another layer of advice, preparation and execution. Admittedly I have not read the entire book yet (the plan was to do each month as it occurred; although I did intend an overview first, I quickly realised there was not that much to gain from this) I would suggest that anything by Julie Morgenstern would be much more helpful and specific.

There's books to help you get organized, and then there's books to help you get organized- and this book is great! I think what makes it so different than your typical book on organization is that is leads you through the organizational steps and process so well....EVERY WEEK FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR!! And this, I feel, is its main strength. So how does it accomplish the lofty goal of getting one organized? According to the book, the magic formula is as follows:

1) eliminate
2) categorize
and 3) organize!

If it sounds simple, it is- or rather should I say that this book makes it about as simple as it can get. Three steps, eliminate, categorize, and organize- and that's about what you can expect to do for each month of the year for a specific disorganized area, easily broken into down steps, week-by-week. Here's some of the areas of your life the book tackles:

-the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, attic, the home office and living room
-additionally, the book covers getting organized while traveling, while moving, while entertaining, as well as the busy school time and holiday seasons.

As you can tell, the book is really complete and will guide you to a more organized life, week-by-week for an ENTIRE year. Get it if you're lazy like me and need to be led by the hand. If you can't get past just reading the steps, try The Sixty-Second Motivator. Good luck!

Regina Leeds starts with your mother's philosophy: There's a place for everything. She provides all the details you need week-by-week and month-by-month to help you stop searching for keys and remote controls, and quit wondering when your dental appointment is. With her help, you can change from time-wasting time mode to "just do it" mode. The weekly organizational activities on her agenda range from one hour to a full day, though she rarely asks you to tie up an entire day. Leeds knows many people have busy schedules and an overwhelming amount of work to do in organizing their lives. getAbstract finds that her orderly approach might help you transform your life or, at least, your closet.

Just bought this book a few weeks ago and have so far found it to be just what I need to get my life in order.

Regina Leeds shows you how to make lasting change in your life. She shows you the organisational skills that you already have and allows you to take a step back to see what happened in your life that led you to become disorganised.

As the other reviewers mentioned, the book has different projects for each month of the year. Generally the first two weeks of a month are journal work and establishing new positive habits related to the area of your life you are dealing with. The third week is then the preparation work necessary for week four where you get to organise!

Regina is very supportive throughout, almost like having a good friend guiding you through the process. Another great thing about the book is how specific the information is. This month I have been organising my paper. The book first gets you to do a shopping list for everything that you will need for a home filing system, then guides you through the process of setting it up; What type of filing products to use, where to put the tabs and even titles you can use.

I can't wait to complete all the projects in this book. The kitchen was my first project and is now more efficient than ever! I know exactly where everything is and seem to have found more space from somewhere! I would definitely recommend this book, I think even organised people could learn a thing or two from reading it!
