We had 7 hours on Skye - definitely not time enough to even get round the island. There was so so much that we didn't get to see or even glimpse. So this book feels like an extension to our trip. Through Mr. Birkett's book we get to take a long tour of Skye, and not only a trip of a week, but we get to view the many famous views of Skye at all the different seasons and lights of a year. His photographs are far beyond any snapshot I could have taken with my little camera. So what a perfect 'souvenir' for us of things we did see, and things we never got the opportunity to see. Mr. Birkett is an amazing photographer and climber, so we also get views from mountaintops that the average person would not get the chance to see. A wonderful, perfect book for the person who has been there, or who just dreams of going.

This is a first class book for anyone like me who cannot walk or climb hills due to ill health and disability. I love the isle of Skye as well as the rest of wester ross area and still venture in my motorhome up to skye for holidays with my camera and dogs.
The photographs taken by bill are 1st class and his story telling is easy going, this is one of many books written by bill and while reading them you are aware of his love and passion for the hills.
This book is a must read for hill lovers
