Utterly charming books by an extremely talented artist. Jill Barklem inhabits her own vivid imaginative world, where tiny wood mice live. Her characters are beautifully drawn on the page, in exquisite detailed interiors and landscapes. It is a dream world for a little girl, where the pictures can be explored again and again for new details. The nostalgic kitchens full of carefully researched old fashioned pot and pans and ranges, and the woods and riverbanks outside with their careful botanic details, give rise to daydreams of a sweet old-fashioned life which will appeal to parents too.

I recently purchased the set for my son. I had read him the 'Spring Story' which I had since I was a child. He loved reading about the world of these enchanting little mice. The books have wonderful illustrations and stories which draw you in. They are fun, sweet and feature humourous moments like the mouse who after hunting for his pants, comments 'ah, there you are, you rascals!' Such a nice alternative to more commercial characters in so many of today's children's books.

The collection of 4 books, one for each season, is nicely boxed. Well printed and so nice to look at.
The only downside is the size. The illustrations are so nice that a larger book would have made them even better.
