It's obviously a Swedish thing--start life as simple fluffy pop and end up as fully functioning rock with loud guitars and snarling vocals. Like the once sweet and delicate Cardigans before them, the Wannadies have replaced their twee tunes and cutesy songs with something far more substantial, sincere and hard, to make them an official a guitar band. And, just like the Cardigans before them, their newly discovered power chords and metallic melodies are just as memorable as their happily grinning songs of the past. Their shy geek vocals and killer melodies made the likes of their ultra smiley and nice single "You And Me Song" (from Bagsy Me) fantastic and, luckily, while they may have gone rock, those two all important qualities are still there. Like the rest of Yeah, the title track may be dense punk madness, but as it worms its way into you subconscious and it's catchy melody makes itself at home, it's also clearly 100 per cent Wannadies. --Dan Gennoe

Format:Audio CD
Not as great as the preceding Bagsy Me, but still excellent,infectious power pop. The overall theme is a bit darker this time, with a few more ballad/expansive rock numbers some which work (Don't Like You/ String Song)and some which are a bit of a drag (Low Enough). The great momements still outweigh the odd dissapoinment by a considerable margin though and the likes of the Shorty a like Big Fan and the anthemic stomp of Yeah, still show the 'dies have an uncanny knack of writing infectious melodies.

Yeah very rarely stops to breathe - from the huge opening track, ironically titled i love myself, the album rips through a series of really good fun, feel good pop-punk rock. Stand out tracks include, Big Fan, No Holiday and Ball.
A whole lot of fun, and a whole lot of great tunes...

The differing musical styles contained in this masterpiece is astounding. From 'string song' with it's beautifully climactic ending, to '...have another one' an extremely brave, and clever, alternative version of the single, 'yeah', this album surpasses all the others that have been released this year. It would be nothing more than a grave injustice, if the Wannandies are still overlooked after creating such a glorious record.

Ramones got lost in Sweden
