Most suncreams work, granted, but they leave me with spots as they have the perfume thing going on.
Anyway, I found this sun block cream in a fairtrade shop, saw the ingredients list happily contained nothing too horribly nasty, and thought it was worth a gamble, just in my efforts to try to find something that would stop me burning as soon as the sun saw me whilst hopefully not prompting huge outbreaks of spots.
In 2 words - this works.
And it's still working 3 years later, but of course now that first bottle is running out.
It was relatively pricey when I first bought a bottle, and it's nice to see that it's not only now available on amazon, but is available at a reasonable price - certainly compares to the shops that stock this.
So, if you're keen to not have too many nasty chemicals on your skin, but need to not burn in the sun, this could well be the bunny for you. It has quite a thick creamy consistency, and you don't need to use that much of it as it is so thick, but it does rub in quite well, leaving no tell-tale sign of it being there as it doesn't leave you with any white-paint effects on your skin.
It also has a very nice smell, of concentrated coconut.
There's no proof at the moment that the Titanium Dioxide used in sun creams is absorbed through the skin.
The only tests that do show penetration were using uncoated Photoactive Titanium Dioxide, sun creams use coated Titanium Dioxide.
So far there have been no signs of negative effects with prolonged use of suncreams in either form.
There have been calls for further research.
You're not supposed to eat it ;-)

Love the smell of this stuff. Worked a treat on my pale skin in 35 degree heat. First time ever I've not gotten burned on holiday. Only downside is it's very greasy. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Ah1211
