DVD Description
During the Second World War, over a million American soldiers were stationed in England. Their presence touched the lives of people in even the smallest villages. Yanks is the story of some of the relationships which grew out of the American invasion of a small northern English town during the grim wartime days. It’s a moving story of two similar and yet very different cultures coming together, warily at first but with growing respect and friendship and sometimes, even love.
Yanks delves into the experience of three Americans: Matt (Richard Gere), John (William Devane) and Danny (Chick Vennera) and the relationships they have with three English women: Jean (Lisa Eichhorn), Helen (Vanessa Redgrave) and Mollie (Wendy Morgan). It’s a tale of happiness and heartbreak and hope for the future.

War movies don't usually appeal to me but "Yanks" is truely a great film and it dosn't surprise me one bit that it was a box office hit back in 1979. It's a beautiful story with a great cast, both moving and funny at times and it even has a cameo from Lynne Perrie.
So, even if you're not a fan of war movies, "Yanks" is still a classic piece of work which you have just got to see because I for one was pleasantly surprised when I purchased it.

this has been one of my favourite films,so pleased to find it on dvd. wartime drama,gi's and english girls.a young richard gere.so worth watching.

my mum raves about this film- she loves richard gere and has watched pretty women on loop. This film surrounds the era when the us troops came to the uk in ww2 and our boys went overseas. It makes for tears drama and heartbreak- all a perfect chick flick. The film is shot well and is good value. Richard gere is so young in this and acts well has do the remaining cast. The film is over 2 hours in length- for me too long, but all the females in my family disagree.

Lost where is it
I ordered this film 5 days ago, it says it was dispatched when i brought it but i still havent received it and moneys gone from account..so where is the DVD????

Yanks DVD
Nostalgia...bags of it. Fine screen acting and a Great storyline. The old WW2 Daimler double decker bus featured in the film, and everything else of that era, certainly brings it... Read more

a film I had seen years ago, and remained in my mind.
Just had to buy and watch again.
