Inexplicably, this release has never been available in tape or DVD format in the UK. I should know, it's my partner's favourite movie and I've spent years looking for it. In the end, I've taken a punt on a 3rd party seller, Seedhouse Rare Movies. They've come up trumps. DVD arrived in 3 days - in time for Christmas - and is in good condition. It appears to be Japanese or Korean in origin, and has presumably been tweaked in some way to play on region 2 players. It contains some instructions for work arounds if the DVD does not play first time on your equipment, and a fall-back e-mail / telephone contact if all else fails. However, it plays fine on my Sony DVD / hard disc recorder, and I would not hesitate to use Seedhouse again. I paid £14.25 (inc. P&P), which seems good value for an otherwise unavailable DVD.
As for the movie, those who have never seen it are in for a treat - your favourite tough guy reverting to his original hoofer training as song-and-dance man George M Cohan. Even if you find the sentiments of the songs a bit hard to take (Yes, "The Yanks are Coming", and only 3 years late), Cagney's performance is exceptional.
