Product Description

Yamla Pagla Deewana, apt to the title brings together once again the three Deols - Dharmendra, Sunny Deol & Bobby Deol as never featured before in a film genre comprising of comedy, action & romance. The film opens in Canada, travels to Banaras and eventually makes its way to Punjab. Yamla Pagla Deewana celebrates Cine-Legend Dharmendra s 50 years in the film industry. The Father-Son duo of Dharam Singh and Gajodhar Singh (Dharmendra and Bobby Deol) are the biggest conmen in Banaras. Their happy go lucky existence involves drinking and pulling off hilarious cons on unsuspecting people. The only hitch in their perfect albeit notorious life arrives in the form of Paramveer Singh Dhillon (Sunny Deol). A brawny and honest NRI from Vancouver, Paramveer lands up in Banaras claiming to be Gajodhar s elder brother separated at childhood. The duo accepts Paramveer into their fold only to exploit his muscle power to serve their con games. Meanwhile Gajodhar falls in love with Saheba (Kulraj Randhawa), a beautiful girl from Punjab. As their romance reaches its peak, her brothers arrive and forcibly take her away. Paramveer saves the day with a crazy plan to win the girl back for Gajodhar which leads them to the rustic heartlands of Punjab. What follows is a rollercoaster ride showcasing the Great Indian Joint Family, Eccentric Relatives, Marriage Mayhem, and a classic case of Mistaken Identities! Duniyawaalon! Iss kahaani mein Comedy hai! Action hai! Romance hai! Drama hai! Melodrama hai! Emotion hai! ... Aur Maa Kasam! Bahut saara Confusion hai!!

Survives on chemistry of the leading men 6 Dec 2011

Format:DVD
A pure formulaic film which employs the lost and found formula to lukewarm effect. This film belongs to the Deols, who are amazing and display chemistry to raise this film to bearable levels. They look happy and the audience joins them as well. This is a story about Sunny Deol who comes to India looking for his long lost brother, Bobby Deol and father Dharmendra. These family members are small time crooks in Varanasi and take him under their wings as their main muscle man. Meanwhile Bobby falls in love with a woman whose brothers do not take his love kindly, whisking the damsel to Punjab. Of course the family of Deols follow the girl to Punjab and fairly hilarious situations ensue until the film ends happily. The film belongs to Sunny, who at 55 is still amazing in the action scenes. A very colorful and lively film, could have benefited from some serious editing. Three stars.
A Great Comedy! 21 Mar 2011

After APNE, the Deols are back with YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA. Their comeback film blends the lost-and-found formula with some recent popular films like K3G and DDLJ.

Director Samir Karnik (KYUN HO GAYA NA, HEROES) takes his time to get the story going which results in a lethargic and lacklustre first half. Apart from Paramveer's awe-inspiring action scenes (which literally involves closing a bar), you have two tacky item numbers, and some con jobs of Dharam and Gajodhar. The stretched romantic track between Gajodhar and Saheba lacks spunk.

Unlike many films that lose spark post interval, YPD gains momentum as the characters arrive in Punjab. It's a mad ride from there, replete with funny gags, zany situations and uproarious dialogues. You only wish, if some of the gags were funnier. Nonetheless, it makes for one crazy viewing. You have to see it to believe it. Just a warning: don't even bother looking for logic.
