Absolutely essential if you're serious about playing your keyboard. However, mine developed the niggling fault of arbitrarily reversing its settings so that 'sustain' occurs with the foot off the pedal. Switching the keyboard on and off a few times cures the episode but if you're prone to 'piano rage' please remember that your keyboard is a delicate piece of kit!

Good sustain pedal 15 July 2009
Don't step on the pedal while switching on your keyboard, and you won't accidentally reverse the polarity (and hence the function). This is a good sustain pedal, suitable not only for keyboards but also for drum kits. It's more compact than the FC4 and doesn't look like a piano pedal, aesthetes will plump for the more traditional-looking FC4 rather than the squat-looking FC5, but hey, looks aren't everything!

Frankly Essential 12 Oct 2009
it 'unlocks' the ability to use sustain on my keyboard - i never knew my keyboard could even do it until recently, and it's really nice! i'd imagine any, cheaper, pedal would have worked but i chose yamaha as it's pretty certain you're going to get a good product.

Yamaha Sustain Pedal
The Yamaha Sustain Pedal does the job. I have to say however that it is somewhat confusing as to which way up you put it on the floor to make it work properly. Read more
