I really wanted a unit that could replace a standard CD player so that I didn't have to get up out of the sofa quite so often. Upon reviewing the market, I discovered that the Yamaha could not only support mp3 and WMA formats, but a USB drive too.
I got the unit home, spent a little time looking over it and a quick scan of the manual, plugged it in, and honestly, you can then just look at the front and the remote and start using it! It really was that straight-forward.
I don't personally like every separate to have its own remote control, and was hoping to use this kit just by way of the front panel controls. However, it's almost possible but the FOLDER button is only available on the remote. But hey, it's a small price to pay for good quality, ease of use and solves my original problem.

This is an excellent CD player and among the very best you can buy. Without spending £500 or so, you have a machine containing high end audiophile components and bombproof build quality. Not only do Yamaha make some of the best hifi I have ever heard, they also make professional musical equipment as used by some of the world's biggest name recording artists and that level of expertise in sound engineering can be heard in all their CD players.
Partnered to my Yamaha RX-V1067 reciever, the atmosphere given to Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon has to be heard to be believed - and listening to rock music like Queensryche's Silent Lucidity revealed new levels of power, drama and scale. This Yamaha made it feel like listening to them for the very first time.
Every CD player has it's own "feel" and the Yamaha is just on the warm side of neutral, which to my ears is just fine, and when used in "pure direct" mode, bypasses every unessential piece of electronics, even turning off the display screen, in order to provide a pure and untainted reproduction of exactly what was recorded. Front facing USB slots mean you can drop an MP3 file to a memory stick or plug in your iPod and are treated to a special mode to enhance compressed music.
As a music journalist and home cinema enthusiast, this CD player is given a very hard life and like Yamaha products before it, remains faultless and effortless in it's ability to constantly surprise me in the way you are drawn in to the music. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. BUY IT !

This Cd Player by Yamaha is represents excellent value for money.
The build quality is excellent, both the player and the remote are robust and very well put together.
Playback is of excellent quality, even modern overly compressed albums such as Candlemass' King of the Grey Islands and Death Magic Doom sound reasonably improved on this CD deck. Noise from the player is non-existant and the mechanism which opens/closes the drawer is minimal - the latter not essential in the grand scheme of things but a pleasant surprise.
A quick note on the packaging - very neat and robust, the polystyrene inserts which support the product are split into fou parts for easy removal and minimal mess. The box is also very strong, which overall in my mind is reassuring that the product within is 1) built with care and 2)secure and free from damage during delivery.
I would have no qualms about recommending this to anyone. It balances performance and price exceptionally well. Five stars.

Does the Job
Nice and easy controls on the Remote and on the player .Sleek finish,And fairly quiet,USB not compatable with my MP4 GO-Gear though, But Very nice product overall
