Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The debut recording of a Glaswegian indie supergroup headed, rather confusingly, by Gary Lightbody, fey-voiced frontman of Irish indie-popsters Snow Patrol, Y'All Get Scared Now Ya Hear is a strange, uncertain and undoubtedly unique record, the result of a 10-day clatter through the lo-fidelity nooks and crannies of the guitar-wielding Glaswegian underground. To his credit, Lightbody manages to keep members of bands as diverse as Arab Strap, Astrid, Mogwai, Mull Historical Society, and Belle and Sebastian. And on the whole, it's his own quavering, tremulous vocals that take the lead on these ponderous, sad Sebadoh-a-likes (see the gorgeous "12 Hours It Takes Sometimes"), lo-fi beat-box breakdowns ("Rainbow") and technofied Sonic Youth-style droners ("Tout Le Monde"). Sure, it would have been nice to hear some of the record's more individualistic contributors making slightly more use of their talents--Arab Strap's splendidly miserable Aidan Moffat, for instance, only steps up to a microphone once for the rolling acoustica of "Nightfall"--but it's very clear that this is Lightbody's project, and frankly, it's a marvel that Y'All Get Scared Now Ya Hear sounds so polished, so focused and so complete. -- Louis Pattison

Beautiful 19 May 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is one of the best albums in my collection to just put on and relax with.

It's some of the best music to chill out with, but not in the same way as music by the likes of Zero 7, Massive Attack or Morcheeba (all excellent artists, by the way). You most likely woulnd't put this on if you've got friends round, as you might do with albums by any of the just mentioned artists. It might be a bit too laid back. However, that takes nothing from the album.

Their second album, Son Of Evil Reindeer, is equally glorious.

Just plug in your earbuds, put this on, and enjoy.

After buying Son of Evil Reindeer some time back and falling in love with its sheer beauty I was gagging to lay my hands on the Reindeer Sections debut album but after repeated listens I am left sorely disappointed.

Noone can dispute the fact that Gary Lightbody writes beautiful lyrics. Real, rip-your-heart-out-of-your-chest-throw-it-on-the-ground-and-stamp-on-it stuff, but I feel that his (and the rest of the bands) haste at writing and recording this album leaves it feeling empty and non-starting. Track after track simply plod along at such a slow pace that I actually find this a hard album to listen to.

I've tried to like this album, believe me, but its just not got that x-factor for me. By all means give it a listen, then go and buy Son of Evil Reindeer.

Gotta go, I'm off to the shops exchange this album for something else!

members of belle and sebsastian, arab strap, astrid, mull historical society, mogwai and more then I can think of join together in reindeer section making it the ultimate scottish indie band. You would have thought that 15 people would make a complete mess of an album but it's completely the opposite. This album mixes together soft guitars and scottish vocals making it a fantastic album. The success of the first album carries on to the next making the number of members reach 27.If you are looking for something a bit mellow and beautiful this is definately the right album
