5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Read - Disappear Into Another World 29 Nov 2012
By MelaLyn - Published on Amazon.com
I just finished reading The Baba Yaga's Daughter by C.E. Murphy... it was divine. I felt like I was in an old library, hidden in a corner with a small lamp, devouring a leather-bound book I found inconspicuously mixed in with the fiction when it should have been shelved with `fact'. Like it was handwritten in script with ink and quill and the owner of the library either had no idea what they possessed or were clever enough to shelve it where it would be hidden in plain sight. The language was lush, the stories interwoven intricately enough to stand on their own but with small hints to broaden the back-story of the others. I highly recommend this book... either to ready fans who follow her work or as an excellent introduction to the quality of her writing and stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Off-beat and unusual. 21 May 2013

I've read a lot of SF and Fantasy over the years, and this was some original and innovative material, I am pleased to report.

Vampires herein are not the current faddish sort, nor even Lugosi-ish, and the reader was required to think a bit.

All in all, I was quite happy with this find

I have enjoyed the Negotiator series and this addition adds a wonderful story line addition and includes some of my favorite characters. Highly recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Baba Yaga is an old friend of mine 3 Mar 2014

When I was a child, I loved fairy tales, of all cultures. Baba Yaga was serialized in a children's magazine that my parents got for me, and I remember her hut with chicken feet, and her rapid travel in a mortar very well. Reading the story of her daughter was perfectly natural for me, a logical progression, and I found her travails to be a welcome diversion from my work injuries.
And I've got a soft spot for Ms Murphy, having learned her works by reading EVERY story of Jo Walker!
