i bought this to use in the car, and the sound quality is so poor you can hardly hear anything above the static - no matter which frequency you set it to. the only way you get even close to clear reception is to hold the unit which defeats the whole point! i wouldn't recommend this product to my worst enemy!

I saw the bad reviews and was very dubious about getting this but ordered it anyway as have no other way of using my iPod in the car as I have a CD player not a cassette. I plugged it all in expecting the worst but was presently surprised. Its simple enough to use, just clip in it find a spare frequency and tune in the stereo. In the car I found the quality to be fairly good, It lives either on the dash board or in the cup holder under the stereo. Now I don't have the best car stereo in the world but to me it sounded as good as normal radio when listening to music. However when listening to podcasts talking there was a noticeable hiss in the background. Its not a very powerful signal and as soon as you hit a station that comes close to the frequency you are using you will loose the Ipod and get the radio station instead. However you are able to set 3 presets so we just switched it to the new frequency and carried on. In the house it needs to be within a few metres of the stereo but again sounded fine, not CD quality but ok.
Can't comment on the battery life yet as in the car I have a charger and one of the things that attracted my to this one over others was the ability to plug it in and charge while playing. All in all, Its not perfect, If you live in London or another big city with all the local radio stations I expect it would struggle but I find it works fine for my needs.

i brought the airplay boost for my new ipod nano 2G after using a tape with a headphone jack on the end (ya know the ones?) in my car for ages! i like the tape things there pretty good but the wire does get annoying so i brought this airplay think hopeing the quality would be as good and i could pass it around the car for friends to play there tracks.
I wish i haddened of bothered! at first it looks cool! nice and slim and smart. then i plugged it in, found a radio frequency with no talkng etc and it seemed ok when i was holding it, when i put the ipod down on the passenger seat i could hear a loud constant static in the background, i thought it might be a bad area or something so i moved it closer to the radio and was fine but as soon as i let go it was back, i got to a point where any more than 6 inches away fromn the radio and the music was unlistinable!
Thankfully there is a little pocket under my radio so i sat it in there and it was all cool, until a fully charged 24 hour battery of my ipod was dead at the end of my half hour drive to work! no battery at all! it just completly drained it!!
also on the way to work i could turn the volume right up and it just didnt seem to have any boost to the music, it sounded dull and boring, bass was nothing! i unplugd it stuck my tape player thing in and that was so much better! i have tried to tweak it with different frequencys and from stereo to mono etc etc nothing worked at all! i thought about getting the cigarette lighter charger to keep the battery up but then im just defeating the object of the no wire point of the transmitter! its not only my car! even in the radio in my front room and bedroom was the same no more than 6 inchs away and your screaming to turn it off!! awful piece of equipment! how companys can get away with selling this is beyond me!

Very Cheap and cheaply made. Always interacts with with other radio waves, short working distance.
